I just found this snippet about the Gary Edwards Combo on a blogg Freaky Trigger as detailed below talking about Lonnie donegan tracks that are missing but this shows some of the top artists that the combo worked with:

THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS: with Lonnie Donegan, Gary Miller, The Springfields, Susan Terry, Gary Edwards Combo, Danny Davis, Tony Rocco, Paul Hollingdale (1962)

Freaky Trigger is a website dedicated to smart, informal writing about pop culture – music, film, TV, food and drink, books, art, science and anything else we fancy writing about. We’re not particularly cutting edge, but we’re generous, affable and curious.

I have a german schlager compilation from the late 50′s with 2 tracks by Mundharmonika- Trio Harmonie & there is also a pic of the group on the album. The track titles are Tweedle-dee, & A-Ting-A-Ling. The compilation is called “Die Illustrierte Schallplatte 2. Folge” (Telefunken LA 6125) .

I´d love to add the photo of the group and the songs to my post. As I wrote, only a small portion of their material has ever been reissued and nobody has written about them yet.

By the way, your blog is great! Nice choice of obscure music from around the world.

Thanks for checking out my blog! Here are the two tracks:Tweedle Dee and A-Ting-A-Ling and the photo of the group. Unfortunately, the tracks are incomplete because they are interrupted by commentary of Hans Hellhoff (I assume he was a radio commentator or something? I don't understand what he's saying though).

Wonderful tunes, interesting sound. In part 1 I can recognize the melody of “Küss mich, bitte bitte küss mich”.

What really amazes me is the TRICK in Trickzither and in the Trickguitar by Dieter Resch below. Has anyone ever heard of Trickdrums, Trickbass, Tricktrumpet? Maybe there is a whole group of trickmusicians out there, magicians of the triangle, wizards of the whistle and real illusionists of the ordinary violin. Maybe I just don’t know them.

Or is “trick” just another expression for “played in pizzicato-style”?

I think you hit the nail on the head. I´d still be interested to hear some tricktrumpet playing…

Could you please repost this again? Have managed to get pretty crazy over Enrique Lynch (and I am VERY picky about Latin jazz!) and some of his stuff is pretty hard to find. Have been downloading EVERYTHING I can get my hands on by him, particularly single tunes…I prefer to listen to each song one at a time so dislike medleys, and Enrique Lynch did a lot of them.

Thank you very much!

Hi Andreas,
I like your blog and this obscure, forgotten and lost music. I do collect similar records – mostly Belgian, often on 78 rpm, some in 25 cm – in addition to a more serious (and expensive) jazz addiction. Once in a while I spend an evening spinning those old records and really enjoy the music. Most of my friends are into jazz, rock , blues and wonder what i find in those old scratchy records of non-descript music. They think it’s age …
Cheers

Hello, my name is Dan Marshall, and the songs that you posted about were written by my father, who was also named Dan Marshall.

He was the fire chief in Columbus, OH back in the 70s and 80s. He passed away in 1990. I am a musician as well, you can hear some of my music at soundcloud.com/iamdanmarshall

I stumbled across this post from Google, trying to see if I could find any information about his full discography. I was only 9 when he died, so I know there are probably several songs out there that I don’t yet know about.

Also, we have family in Germany, which might explain how this record made it your neck of the woods!
